Hi, Reader. Most months, I let the $5 DoorDash credit on my Chase Sapphire Reserve® expire unused. It only worked on restaurant orders, and $5 wasn't enough to get me ordering delivery I wouldn't have ordered anyway. Starting October 1st, that credit triples.

What's changing

Starting October 1st, 2026, and running through the end of 2029, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card will increase its existing DoorDash benefit by $10.

This means cardmembers will receive up to a $15 monthly credit on any DoorDash order (previously the $5 monthly credit was limited to just restaurant orders).

This is in addition to the two $10 monthly promos, which give up to $10 each off non-restaurant DoorDash orders. Only one promo can be applied per order, so you'll need to place two separate non-restaurant orders to use both.

With these combined DoorDash offers, cardmembers will be able to receive up to $35 per month in savings, or $420 over a full calendar year.

And remember, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers also receive DashPass for free: Activate by December 31st, 2027, and you'll get at least 12 months of complimentary membership. DashPass is DoorDash's paid membership that gets you waived delivery fees and reduced service fees, and enrolling is what unlocks the monthly credits in the first place.

Keep in mind that credits don't roll over month to month, so you'll need to keep track of your DoorDash benefits each month to ensure you're maximizing your savings.

Why I like this change

With the new $15 credit, I'm much more likely to use DoorDash each month. Despite having to pay the service fee and tip on delivery orders, I'll be able to get some items delivered to my door with minimal out-of-pocket spend, or potentially close to free with pickup orders.

And best of all, the $15 credit will work on all eligible DoorDash purchases, not just restaurant orders.

That said, I don't value this benefit at a full $420 in savings, since there are times I'll order something I didn't really need just to use the credit.

Still, this is a solid upgrade to a benefit that was already easy to use. Tripling a credit I was already ignoring is a change I'll actually notice.
